How to Virgin ME2.8 ECU and Code with MB Star DAS

 

ME 2.8 ECUs are used in many Mercedes Benz models with M112/3 engines.  The old ECU is damaged. You need to make virgin (renew it) and code it by MB Star diagnostic DAS or Vediamo.

Part 1: Renew ME 2.8 with CGDI MB
Remove ME 2.8 ECU from MB (i.e a W203)
CGDI Prog MB software 3.0.2.0 adds the ME2.8 ECU wiring diagram

Follow wiring diagram to connect MB Bosch ME 2.8 ECU with CGDI

Run CGDI MB software
Select Auto Computer function
Read ECU

Get erase password

Get erase password success.
Press Erase

Erase/Renew ECU completed

Re-Install ME 2.8 ECU back to vehicle

Part 2: Adapt ME 2.8 with DAS
Using MB Star Xentry to program a virgin ECU to an existing EIS.
Connect MB SD Connect C4 multiplexer with vehicle via OBD socket via LAN cable
Turn on ignition switch
Identify vehicle
Select Control Unit Groups-> Drive->ME2-SFI- Motor electronics-> ME-SFI 2.8-Motor electronics 2.8-> Control Unit adaptation->Learning processes

Teach in of drive authorization system

Press F1 to continue
Enter VIN as 17-digit code

Personalizing
Switch off ignition and then switch on

Start the engine

It is time to buy a Star Diagnosis tool. Trying to diagnosis problems and solve them without randomly replacing parts is worth investment. Specifically I want to be able to diagnosis the ABC system as well as top malfunctions. Which one would work best on a 2004 R230 and would it work on my 1997 R129.

Mercedes Star Diagnostic Tool Review

The Mercedes Star diagnostic tool comes in a variety of formats such as C3, C4 and C5. The C3 and C4 are very similar, just the difference is that the C4 is smaller and lightweight, which is very useful due to the C3 being a task in itself setting it up. The C5 is the same format at the C4 but it can update itself (WiFi) via an official web directory.

Why did I choose the MB STAR C3?

Owning 4 Mercedes and many others in the family, fault codes are very common and are difficult to uncover unless you own a Star Machine. The MB Star C3 can interact with cars from 1989 to now, which covers the majority of the cars I own. The ability to read troublesome stored codes and erase them once resolved is very useful and also saves money in the long run with the majority of independent garages charging £30-40 to scan your Mercedes.

How Hard is it to use the Mercedes Star Machine?

There is two parts to using the Mercedes Star Diagnostic tool, the first being the setup and the latter actually using it. As you can see above, their are a few leads involved to connect the Mercedes to the star machine.

*  Wire from ECU to the Multiplexor
*  Wire from Multiplexor to the Computer
*  Power Cable to the Laptop (It’s advised never to let the computer run out during diagnostics!)
*  Power pack if low battery that might die during the test

Once the wires have been connected up properly, start the iginition and you should wait until you see a lock appear in the bottom right corner of your computer (near internet signal). Once the lock is present, the computer is connected to the car, therefore start up the DAS/Xentury software and do the following:
*  Find your car using the menu provided (Car -> E Class -> W210 etc)
*  You will then be greeted with a popup notifying that the multiplexor is attempting to connect
*  Once connected, its fairly straight forward – You can perform tests or go into individual units
*  Using F1, F2 and F3, you will be able to navigate through stored fault codes and removing them with the F9 key
*  If faults are not removing, its best to print out the full test (button bottom right), which will contain unique MB Codes to show a mechanic

The Star machine enables you to find a problem, fix it and confirm that it is fixed by erasing the issue and then running another test. If you are feeling confident, you may feel like running some more complex tests i.e. Compression test. I had issues with the fuel injectors in my 320 CDi, therefore I performed a compression test, which was spot on but the second test was the “leak” test, which showed two injectors were faulty.

Just because a star machine is marketed as the “go to” Mercedes error code scanner, it does not mean you cannot use any other type of scanner.

MB Vito 2005 Start Error(solved)

I got a MB Vito 2005 with start error.
I manage to read ECU 24c04 eeprom but i can not read motorola from immo box.
I use clone carprog for this operation , everything as diagram shows but still can not read it.
Do you know if Carprog Clone read this Motorola HC08 0J66D?
Is there any way to start car without reading this?

ok i managed to fix your dump.
Put my fixed dump into ecu. open DAS and make ecu identification (hhtwin)

Clear now but I don’t have Star as well.
I’m helping a friend with this car and I don’t have tools for MB.
I will try to read that HC08 and make via eeprom programming .

solved …i read it with XPROG and sync them with ImmoKiller.

How to activate Xentry 03.2021?

same procedure as xentry 06.2020.

1.Open “ConfigAssist “software.

*   Record the Hardware ID.

*   Open EWA.

*   Record the LAN-ID.

Now we have Hardware ID and LAN-ID.

*   Open the DTS software, it will automatically copy the ID.

*   Send the 3 IDS to the dealer.

*   Open the activation file that obdii365.com engineer sent you, to copy the ID inside.

*   Click here.

*   Paste my Activation Code here and click on “Save”.

*   Open the activation file we gave you.

11.Copy the files inside

*   12.Go to the C disk, open the “DTS” Software installation directory
